Part of the series that thrives on creating some of the most unusual takes on classic instruments, throwing out the rule book, and packing them with unusual appointments, the Fender Modern Player Telecaster is probably the most original take on the Telecaster that there has been in years.
A Tele with a Difference
Three pickups, comprised of two single-coils and a humbucker in an HSS configuration, a coil-tapping switch for the humbucker, and most unusually a pine body, which not only looks fantastic, as the grain shines beautifully through the finish, but it also offers up new tonal possibilities.
While these components mark this model out from its Tele brethren, all the other classic attributes that make a Tele are still in attendance, so it still feels and plays as it should, and the whole offering looks surprisingly classy. In fact it could probably pull off a bow tie!
